Screaming Ethan Roberts was overwhelmed with emotion when he found out he was on the Chicago Cubs’ opening roster.
There’s nothing like finding out you’re headed to the main show. For right-handed pitcher Ethan Roberts, he dreams of playing in early April for the Chicago Cubs. Fortunately, the wait is over for him.
On Monday, in the middle of a spring training game, skipper David Ross approached Roberts and told him he had officially made the opening day roster. As you can probably imagine, this update drove Roberts crazy on the inside.
Ethan Roberts couldn’t be happier to have made the opening day roster
It’s so awesome to see. Roberts had been hoping to hear that from Ross for a while and the fact that he got to see his dreams come true means the world to him. The Cubs are going to look like a completely different team this season, and now Roberts will help put Chicago back on track.
At just 24 years old, the best is yet to come for Roberts, who is considered a rising reliever for the Cubbies. He’s not the only youngster who will be set to make his opening day debut as other big names are on the list.
For the Seattle Mariners, Julio Rodriguez was also given his news on Monday and the outfielder couldn’t be happier to make a name for himself in the Pacific Northwest. While Roberts may not be as excited as J-Rod, the pitcher will also be motivated to impress at Wrigley Field throughout the season.
Chicago may be in a rebuild, but fans are excited about the team’s future. Roberts thinks he plays a big role in things.
