Burnley set to make Vincent Kompany announcement

There could be an announcement over the weekend, or early next week, three weeks after the Clarets were relegated from the Premier League and eight weeks after Sean Dyche left.

The delay is due to work permit issues for the Belgian and some of his behind-the-scenes staff – Kompany could be reunited with coach and video analyst Eliot Tybebo, personal assistant Rodyse Munienge, coach Floribert Ngalula and l physical trainer Bram Geers, who were all close to the head coach in Brussels.

Work permit issues, however, have not been an obstacle for Welshmen Simon Davies and Craig Bellamy, who are expected to re-sign with Kompany.

Davies left his position as Manchester City’s Head of Coaching Adademy to join Kompany at Anderlecht in 2019, and took over managerial duties for a time as Kompany focused on the player side for the remainder of that season.

Davies – a member of Manchester United’s class of 92 – spent nine years at City on the coaching staff, during which time he also replaced Patrick Vieira as elite development coach .

Former Blackburn Rovers and Liverpool striker Bellamy played at City with Kompany, and joined as Under-21 manager at Anderlecht in 2019, before being promoted to assistant manager, for nine matches, before leaving the job in September last year to deal with mental health issues. .

Kompany has attracted interest from Nice, who finished fifth in Ligue 1 last season, but the club remain confident they will approve his appointment and get to work trying to bounce back in the Premier League.

Kompany has been keen for the club to start working on recruitment targets on his behalf, with a loan move to England’s city centre, Under-21 captain Taylor Harwood-Bellis, a deal could happen, although I understand a similar move for fellow Blue Tommy Doyle. , who spent time in Hamburg and Cardiff last season, is less likely.

Pre-season plans have yet to be finalised, time is running out as players return to Gawthorpe for testing and training at the end of the month; with the league season kicking off on July 30, before the World Cup break in November and December.
