It’s part of the company’s efforts to diversify payment options to meet all traveler needs.
Singapore – Global Travel Hub agodaannounced its partnership with Visa, the global leader in digital payments, to offer interest-free credit card installments on its booking platform. Agoda will be the first global online travel agency (OTA) to offer this payment option with Visa in the Asia-Pacific region.
These installments can now be exclusively reserved for HSBC Bank Malaysia credit card holders. In the coming years, Visa and Agoda will gradually roll out this offer regionally in countries such as Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines, each with respective issuing banks.
“As the world transitions from a pandemic to an endemic state, there is a strong demand for digital experiences to adapt to changing consumer behaviors and shopping habits. At Agoda, we are always on the lookout. finding innovative ways to help people achieve greater accessibility – using technology to simplify the search, booking and payment processes. We are pleased to be working with a global leader like Visa to enable travelers who might otherwise previously find it impractical to pay for their booking in one lump sum, to spread their purchases over multiple payments – allowing for greater flexibility and peace of mind,” said Thi-Mai-Linh Bui, Chief Financial Officer of Agoda.
To take advantage of this benefit, Visa cardholders will simply need to enter their credit card details at checkout. A payout option will appear for eligible cardholders. Then, travelers can select their preferred installment period through Agoda’s mobile app and website at no cost or additional charge.
“The buy now, pay later trend is here to stay, so add installments to the list of consumer expectations for speed, security and convenience, even when booking their vacation,” mentioned Conor LynchHead of Consumer Solutions, Asia-Pacific, Visa. “We’re thrilled to have Agoda join the growing list of companies in the Asia-Pacific region offering their customers the ability to pay in installments. It’s especially great to see installment payments take off in the travel industry in same time people get their ‘revenge travel plans underway.
